Wa alaikum assalaam sister! I won’t lie to you: wearing hijab in the south, especially as a revert, can be very challenging. there will be people you’ve known your whole life who will change their opinion of you based off of a piece of fabric. but there will also be people who will respect you, who will support you, who will cherish you. these are the important people God will reveal to you in your times of struggle and the ones who will help you defy those who seek to tear you down. the hijab is your choice and your right and no mean comments or dirty looks can diminish that as long you keep your head high and your faith strong. remember: “verily, with hardship, comes ease” (94-5) and do not be afraid! Alhamdulillah you are beautiful and wonderful and brave, inshAllah sister you can do this! :)
